Community Initiatives

Community Initiatives Against Family Violence (CIAFV) developed out of a community need for more collaboration of services, increased training opportunities on family violence and bullying and a need for a unified voice and language on family violence and bullying issues.   CIAFV is an initiative of the family violence and bullying serving community as a whole not by a single organization. Since its inception CIAFV has become a strong voice for Edmonton and area service providers and government departments that are working collaboratively to end family violence and bullying in our communities. CIAFV is funded by Alberta Human Services.

CIAFV provides the following services:
  • Professional training on family violence and bullying related topics
  • Family Violence Protocol development
  • Linking Protocol development
  • Coordination of the community response to family violence and bullying
  • Project Teams
  • Monthly meetings
  • Family violence information email distribution list
  • Referrals to professionals and family violence relates projects
